My Lipstick Collection: The Reds

Hey squirrel friends! I'm backkkk with my second install of My Lipstick Collection...the reds!

If you know me then you already know that red is my favorite color, so naturally it's my all-time FAVORITE lipstick color! I love every shade of red lipstick you can think of, from bright orange-reds, true reds, to blood red (blood red being my favorite favorite lol).

This install will feature some brands other than MAC (some high-end and some drugstore) as well as permanent and limited edition colors. Lets get started!

Lady Danger (matte)

-->Lady Danger is a bright orange-red that almost has a neon twinge to it. It's a matte however I found it to have alittle more sheen and moisture than most matte lipsticks.

-->I love this color! It's super bright and great for the hotter seasons.

Revlon's Certainly Red (creme)

-->Gah! My first drugstore lipstick! Revlon's Certainly Red is a MUST HAVE for beauty lovers on a budget. It's a creme texture and what I would call an "all-purpose red". It's a true red with great color pay off and very affordable.

-->This was actually a recommendation from my mother. She said this color was all-the-rage back in the day lol. I think this is a great color and an awesome back-up if you cant afford (or find) a high-end brand red that you like.

Sail La Vie (satin)

*Limited Edition

-->Sail La Vie is a red with very orange undertones. It came out with the Hey Sailor! collection sometime last year. When I first purchased it I thought it was going to be more orange but on the lips it looks more red than it does in the photo.

-->I like this color however it wasn't what I was expecting. It's one of those colors where if I would have bought it to be red, it would've been too orange. And I bought it because I thought it was orange, but it turned out too red lol.

Red Racer (satin)

*Limited Edition

-->Red Racer is a blue-toned red with a slight sheen and good pay-off. Also from the  Hey Sailor! collection.
-->Very basic red. I bought it mainly for the packaging (haha)! There are so many colors like this one that it's not a big deal if you missed it. Still a gorgeous color though :]

LimeCrime's Glamour 101

-->Glamour 101 is a true brick red with brown undertones.  If I had to categorize the texture, it would  be most like MAC's Amplified lipsticks.
-->This is also one of those colors that turned out to be something other than what I expected. I thought it was going to be a very deep, luscious blood red...and then it turned out be..something else lol. Not a bad color, but would I have bought it if I saw it in person first? I doubt it..

Stila's Long wear Liquid Lipstick in Fiery (gloss to matte)

-->Where do I start!? Ok, this is a true deep red with slight blue undertones and dries matte. It is a gloss formula but has extreme opacity (obviously) and it lasts FOREVER!

-->Omgomgomgomg! I fucking love this shit man! It's one of the most perfect reds and it is perfect for nights out because it does NOT MOVE! This has been my go-to for some months now whenever i'm going drinking (which is often lol) because I know I wont have to worry about it being all over my face or clothes (not like i'm ever doing anything that crazy) but you never know lol

-->Does stand to be touched up after a few hours or so but for the most part, this is a winner.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Reverb

 *Discontinued

-->OCC's Lip Tars are known for their extreme shine and opacity. This is a bright red with orange undertones. It has a glossy finish and alittle goes a LONG way.
-->I think OCC's lip tars are amazeballs just like everyone else, however i'm scared to wear it because it is so glossy and opaque. Definitely not recommended for a night out but if you're looking for statement colors, these are great.
-->I bought this at the 2011 IMATS and unfortunately this particular color is discontinued =/

Ruby Woo (matte)

-->If you don't already know this color then you live under a bunch of rocks...not just one, a bunch.
-->Ruby Woo is a true matte red with a blue undertone. It looks absolutely gorge on all skin tones and it's definitely a color to have in your collection. 
-->This lipstick is superrr matte and can be slightly drying so I recommend putting on a lip moisurizer before but, it lasts all day and the color is magnificent.
-->I think this is the first red lipstick I ever bought from MAC and after trying it on for the first time in months, I remembered why this is my all time favorite lipstick of all time ever!

My Lipstick Collection: The Pinks

I figured that for my first official beauty post I'd talk about something that everybody loves, lipstick :] 

I love lipstick. In fact, I love it so much that I need to buy new storage because the case that I have it in now will barely close because there's lipstick busting out at the seams.

Anywhooo....I'm starting with pink because I think I have more pink lipstick than any other color..so clearly it's one of my favs.

Seeing as this is a more "show-n-tell" post rather than a review, there will be swatches, a brief (very brief) description, and my overall feelings about the lipstick.

P.S. Most of these lipsticks are MAC so if they're permanent colors or were limited edition i'll be sure to include that in the description.

Show Orchid (amplified)

-->*Le Sigh*...I think this is the very first lipstick I ever bought from MAC. It's a deep hot pink shade with an iridescent blue under-tone. It has an opaque coverage and slight sheen without being drying on the lips. I used to wear this color OUT! When Spring and Summer came you couldn't tell me nothin! I don't reach for it much anymore but if you ain't scurred to rock the hot I say go for it.

Nicki Minaj Pink Friday (satin)

*limited edition

 -->When I tell ya'll I hunted this color down...I literally tracked it down like Elmer Fudd during wabitt season. This lipstick launched Fall '10 (I think) for the month of November. It was sold every Thursday until Black Friday (the Friday after Thanksgiving) so the rarity of this lipstick cannot be understated.

-->It's a blue-toned Barbie pink with a semi-matte (satin) finish. J'adore this lipstick! When I first got it I couldn't put it down but since this is the only one I have (or will ever have) I have to savor it lol.

Viva Glam Nicki (satin)

-->Viva Glam Nicki is a medium-toned pink with coral undertones. I have to be honest, when I first got this color I wasn't impressed....or maybe it just wasn't what I was expecting...aka I wanted it to look like Pink Friday and it didn't so I had an attitude lol

-->I think I only really wore this color once but when I swatched it again I realized how pretty it is. Will be incorporating this back into rotation soon.

Sunny Seoul (Cremesheen)

*Pro Only?

-->Sunny Seoul is a corally-pink with a sheer finish. It kinda reminds me of a more sheer version of Viva Glam Nicki. I bought this color on a whim, just browsing around the Pro store and I saw it and had to have it. 

-->I think this will be a great color for Spring and Summer because its not drying on the lips and still gives a nice color. You may only be able to find this color in Pro stores on online....don't quote me on that though.

Viva Glam Gaga (lustre)

-->Oh Gaga, this poor lipstick is tiredddd yall! I clearly need a new one.

-->Viva Glam Gaga is a Barbie pink with a semi-sheer, glossy finish. It's a lustre so it's super moisturizing on the lips but doesn't have much longevity on its own. A lipliner is definitely recommended.

-->I love is color (obviously) and I think it looks great on everybody. I think this is a very similar color to Pink Friday only much more sheer and glossy but with a like lipliner underneath I think this is a great alternative.

Snob (satin)

-->The website describes this color as a light neutral pink...I guess lol.

-->Again, if you're looking for a Barbie pink color then this is one to try. It's a cooler toned pink so it can definitely be applied lightly for a less dramatic look. But it is a satin so the color is opaque without being too drying.

-->I really like this color on its own however when I actually apply it, it's a hit or miss. Probably one of MACs most popular colors though.

Candy Yum-Yum (matte)

-->HOT DAMN! This is probably one of the hottest pink lipsticks you'll ever see. This is relatively new to my collection and I couldn't be more excited! This came out with a Limited Edition collection awhile back and I missed it but as of Fall '12 this color is now permanent!

-->This lipstick is matte, therefore it has great color payoff and it lasts forever, especially with a lipliner.

-->Not for the faint of heart!

Pink Pigeon (matte)

*Limited Edition

-->Again with the hot pink lol. This lipstick was reintroduced in the Strength Collection and is currently sold out everywhere. Like with Pink Friday, I hunted this downnnn! 
-->Pink Pigeon is a hot pink with a blue undertone and matte finish. VERY similar to Candy Yum-Yum. So similar in fact that i'm kinda mad I bought it. When I read reviews and saw swatches online it didn't look quite as similar but when I did my own comparison I barely saw a difference.
-->Like I said before, this color is sold out but you can get Candy Yum-Yum which is pretty much the same color.
